General Dentistry: Surprising Foods and Drinks That are Good for Your Teeth

  • Onions – While onion breath may be a side effect of eating onions, they also contain anti-bacterial sulfur compounds that help to get rid of any harmful bacteria existing in the mouth
  • Leafy greens – Leafy greens are full of nutrition, which help to keep teeth strong and healthy

Surprising drinks that are good for teeth

The following is a list of some of the surprising drinks that are good for your general dentistry routine and the overall health of one’s teeth:

  • Vegetable juice – Drinking low sugar vegetable juices supports good oral health
  • Red wine – Red wine includes compounds that help to reduce bad bacteria in the mouth
  • Milk – Milk is low in sugar, high in protein and contains lots of calcium, which helps to reduce bacteria and strengthen the teeth

Not so surprising foods and drinks

Foods and drinks that are more commonly known to support healthy teeth include apples, strawberries, oranges, sweet potatoes, salmon, eggs, almonds and water. Water not only hydrates the mouth, but it also helps to rinse the mouth of food particles, reducing one’s chances of being diagnosed with a cavity.
